An Early Thank You From the Bottom of My Heart

To our beloved patrons and VIP supporters
Dearest friends,
Thank you—truly—for your kind contributions to this campaign, to our community, and to my heart.

It’s been an emotional whirlwind to witness our initial fundraising goal not only be met, but exceeded—in just a matter of hours. I’m still processing the depth of that generosity, and I want you to know how much it means to me.
In the middle of all this, something unexpected and beautiful happened. A local skater I recently met at our town council meeting—his name is Jeremiah—turned out to have met my brother, Mogley, back in 2006. We realized later that we were both at the very first Skate for Mogley event in 2016. Here's a photo from that day: See if you can spot Jeremiah at the top left... and maybe me, too.
🎥 Watch MOGLEY: Our Jungle Book Story

If you haven’t yet, I invite you to take a few quiet moments to watch the short documentary I wrote and directed about my brother, Dustin “Mogley” Moore. His story is one of joy, struggle, brotherhood, and loss—and it’s been honored at film festivals in Winchester, Blacksburg, and Morgantown.
I hope the film prompts meaningful reflection and conversation—especially with young people—about addiction, memory, and the importance of community.
Looking Ahead: A Personal and Professional Aspiration
Now that we've reached our first milestone, I want to share a dream that has taken root as a direct result of your support: I’m beginning the process of designing a bronze-cast memorial headstone for Mogley.
Bronze has long symbolized permanence, dignity, and craftsmanship—qualities I want this headstone to embody. To begin this journey, I’ve connected with local potter Tony Puglisi, who is generously helping me create a clay proof-of-concept model. We hope to have it ready in time for display at the skate park opening. It’s just the first step, but it feels like the right one.
This process will not only deepen my own artistic skills—it will also enrich what I bring into the classroom as a teacher. I want my students to see that art is more than expression; it's a tool for memory, legacy, and community care.
Believe it or not, Tony has been helping me learn about my kiln at school, and meeting me at the Winchester MSV to throw clay! He's even made an effort to facilitate the donation of several clay slip molds to our classroom. He's a cool guy and I'm counting on him being at the event so you can shake his hand. He will kill me for putting this in here, but he is also single. 😉
